Balcony Gardening Giardina 2024

Moss ball gardening with perennial plants

If you have perennial kokedamas, then you know that now is a very exciting time of the year. Moss grows quickly in spring, so your kokedama is very likely lush, green, and thriving. If it hasn’t already, then soon new leaves will emerge as the plant reawakens for spring.

Switzerland's climate is very suitable for many types of moss. In fact, there are more than 1,100 species growing here! Anywhere you see moss already growing nearby, whether on your balcony, terrace or in your garden, would be an excellent place for your kokedama.

In our workshops, you can create moss balls similar to these examples from my garden. You choose which plants to combine with living moss to create your own living sculpture.
