Grown Tradition: Teak Furniture from Garpa

Teak is a gift from nature. Like no other wood, it withstands rain, sun, temperature fluctuations and frost without varnish or chemical surface treatment. The silvery patina that develops over the years is a natural mark of quality.

Nature in Its Purest Form

In 1979, Garpa introduced its first teak collection to the German garden world. The Rothesay bench has stood in the garden of our headquarters for more than 45 years — weather-tested and as steadfast as ever. A hallmark of English garden tradition, it embodies everything that makes teak furniture so valuable: the durability of the material, timeless style, and refined craftsmanship.

A wooden bench sits on a well-manicured lawn in a formal garden, surrounded by trimmed hedges and greenery, with a large stone house in the background.

Our Wealth of Experience

Meticulous craftsmanship is something we owe both to our customers and to the valuable wood that matures over many years into unparalleled beauty and strength. Everything begins with the careful selection of the teak and an instinct for its natural grain, whose direction is crucial for the optimal construction of our furniture. Even the precise cutting of this exceptional material forms the ideal basis for our traditional joinery, fine dowels and mortise-and-tenon joints.

Furniture for Generations

Decades of experience and the highest level of craftsmanship enable us to realise even unusual forms for contemporary design and exceptional comfort. Timeless design, a responsible approach to resources and flawless workmanship set standards and create a counterpoint to fast consumption. What you own in teak can be passed down through generations.

Responsible Use

Garpa uses exclusively material from sustainably managed plantations whose continuously regenerating timber mass absorbs significant amounts of CO₂. As one of the first European companies to apply for product chain certification (CoC) in accordance with the guidelines of the Forest Stewardship Council® (licence no. CO13733), Garpa was awarded the CoC certification code NC-COC-016417 as early as 1998 (from June 2025: PBN-COC-016417), which has since been successfully renewed every five years following reassessment. The wood declaration provided with each piece of furniture gives you information about the country of origin of the teak used.
