Modular raised beds for green thumbs who want to get more out of their garden

A raised bed is far more than a design element – it creates structure, increases harvest yield, and noticeably simplifies gardening. Creasteel’s modular raised beds are designed to perfectly combine functionality, aesthetics, and longevity.
Thanks to flexible 80 Γ— 80 cm modules, a wide range of shapes can be created – from classic linear layouts to creative U- or L-shaped installations that make optimal use of the garden and blend harmoniously into the surroundings.

Durable materials – long-lasting and weather-resistant

Our raised beds are made from high-quality metal and are available in two versions:

Steel with a natural rust finish – a vibrant, living patina that makes every raised bed a unique eye-catcher.
Powder-coated aluminium – modern, elegant, and particularly low-maintenance.

Both materials are extremely robust, weather-resistant, and ideal for year-round outdoor use. The stable construction prevents deformation, ensures an exceptionally long service life, and keeps the raised bed in perfect shape for many years.

Compared to wooden raised beds, metal offers decisive advantages:

  • Wood weathers, rots, and decomposes over time – metal remains dimensionally stable and durable.

  • No moisture absorption and no swelling of materials.

  • No annual maintenance such as oiling, staining, or sanding required.

  • Metal is resistant to pests, fungi, and insect damage.

  • The smooth interior surfaces prevent soil and moisture from penetrating the material.

This results in a raised bed that not only impresses visually but also offers significantly greater long-term stability and lifespan compared to conventional wooden versions.

A modular system – flexible and expandable

Each module can be freely combined to create customised sizes and layouts. This makes the system suitable for both small terraces and expansive gardens.
For special requirements, we also offer custom-made raised beds – perfectly tailored to the surrounding space or architectural setting.

Three rust-colored, geometric metal planters are arranged in a row on a white background, with each planter increasing in size and complexity from left to right.

Why a raised bed is a smart choice

A raised bed offers several key benefits:

  • Ergonomic, back-friendly gardening thanks to elevated working height

  • Better soil quality through layered filling

  • Higher yields due to heat generation inside the bed

  • Optimal drainage, preventing waterlogging

  • Protection from pests such as snails

  • Extended growing season thanks to warmer soil

  • Clean structure and aesthetic enhancement of the garden

Creasteel raised beds combine these practical advantages with modern design and exceptional durability.

How to properly fill a raised bed

The traditional layering method ensures optimal nutrient supply and stable heat development:

  1. Branches, twigs or wood chips
This bottom layer acts as drainage and allows excess water to flow out easily. Use branches, twigs, or wood chips. The layer should be around 25 to 30 cm high.
  2. Inverted turf sods, leaves or grass clippings
Next, add a 15–20 cm layer of inverted turf sods, leaves, or grass clippings. This promotes decomposition of the lower layer and improves aeration.
  3. Half-mature compost and optionally partially decomposed manure
Then add another 25 to 30 cm layer of half-mature compost. You may optionally add partially decomposed horse or cattle manure to increase nutrient content.
  4. High-quality garden soil and mature compost
The top layer consists of high-quality garden soil enriched with mature compost. This final layer should also be 25 to 30 cm high. Spread the substrate evenly and gently press it down.

This natural layering system ensures healthy plant growth and significantly reduces watering requirements.
