Description

perMatur – Landscape Architecture

Garden and open space design and the development of agroforestry systems in agriculture with edible plant concepts!

For years, as the owner of the planning company perMatur, I have been designing gardens, open spaces, and agroforestry systems in which plants take center stage. Perennial, edible plants are my passion: they are aesthetically pleasing, offer culinary and ecological value, and continue to thrive for many years. Those who are curious are often amazed at the treasures that are edible, from native wild plants to ornamental plants that have previously been used “only” for decorative purposes. A special example is magnolia blossoms, which are valued as high-quality food in other cultures.

Between garden design and sustainable agriculture

I work at the intersection of garden design and agricultural cultivation systems. In addition to private garden projects, I support housing cooperatives, agricultural businesses, research and educational institutions, and the public sector. My goal is to create gardens and open spaces that not only look beautiful, but can also be experienced, understood, and further developed.

For agricultural businesses, I develop sustainable cultivation systems for perennial, healthy, tasty, and high-yield foods. Restaurateurs and hoteliers in particular benefit from this combination: garden and agricultural areas merge into a system that combines beauty, utility, and enjoyment.

From idea to implementation

I accompany every project from the first sketch to the finished installation, from the preliminary study to the design and implementation planning to the construction management. As a trained landscape gardener with many years of experience in gardening and landscaping, I support the contractors, especially with challenging plantings and natural stone work.

I offer my specialization in plant planning to other planning offices in the fields of architecture and landscape architecture for their projects.

Sharing knowledge and inspiring others

I also share my knowledge through consulting, process support, documentation, article publications (currently Schweizer Garten, February 2026 issue; article: PERENNIAL PLANTS FOR THE KITCHEN – The edible garden - in german), film contributions, lectures, workshops, and excursions. Those who encounter my gardening and agroforestry projects experience the connection between function, design, yield, and nature-to discover, enjoy, and learn.

Upcoming excursions in 2026:

perMatur at Giardina 2026

At Giardina 2026, I will be presenting a selection of my projects in Hall 2, location J25, right next to the restaurant. They show how aesthetics, ecology, and cuisine can be harmoniously combined in gardens and open spaces. Visitors can discover the diversity of edible, perennial plants that are sure to surprise. I will be supported on site by the Alfred Forster AG tree nursery, which will exhibit a selection of plants at the location that will also be available for purchase at the end of the exhibition. These include chinese mahogany, magnolia, lime tree, elm, bladder nut, and Szechuan pepper bush.

On March 11, from 4 to 6 p.m., I will also give a two-hour lecture in the GIARDINA 2026 lecture series on the topic: Edible gardens – designing with perennial vegetables and rare fruits (in german).
