No wonder this stag made it in front of the international hunting museum at the Chateau de Gien. It is an uncontested representation showing a stag in its most beautiful form. It is slightly oversized and from the antlers you can recognize the crown stag.
The artist Pierre Rouillard (1820-1881) was a professor of sculpture at the Ecole national supérieur des arts in Paris. Reference objects can be found in prominent places such as in front of the Musé d'Orsay, the Paris Opera and many other public places. One of my clients, an avid hunter, had been looking for a beautiful stag for years, but found only copies. And after searching for a long time myself, I came across this stag. And I have not seen a more beautiful one until now.
