However, the mechanism of plant resistance to sap-feeding insects is still not sufficiently known. It is obvious that not everyone is "reinventing the wheel", so to speak, but that the defence methods are similar. Researchers have now come up with the idea of checking whether there are particularly widespread or successful variants of defence. If so, this could be helpful in breeding new, more resistant plant varieties....
