At the special exhibition GREEN UP THE CITY, visitors can leisurely explore the world of urban gardening and learn how to create a (balcony) garden that is beautiful as well as sustainable and clever.
Giardina 2023
After a three-year break from Corona, Switzerland's biggest garden fair, Giardina, opens its doors again from 15 to 19 March. There you can be inspired by huge, impressive show gardens, learn all about new equipment, materials, plants and trends, and get lots of ideas and tips for beautifying your own garden and balcony. But in 2023, it offers even more: on 600 m2, this year's Giardina, together with us from VEG and the City, will present a special show on the subject of urban gardening under the motto "Green up the City".
Let's green up the city!
People long for more nature, especially in urban areas. The desire for biodiversity and green spaces on our own doorstep is growing. That's why we're showing visitors the latest, most innovative ideas and products that transform not only city gardens or terraces, but also the smallest balconies into green oases. An edible, insect-friendly dream garden is possible anywhere. This will be demonstrated at this unique special show and every visitor will be encouraged to participate.
An experience for all the senses
The special show GREEN UP THE CITY comprises a multitude of interactive elements in 6 pavilions, 6 tunnels and a large eye-catcher in the middle. It is all about urban farming, circular economy, smart solutions, upcycling, old and new irrigation systems, beneficial insects and living in harmony with nature. In addition to an experience for all the senses, you will learn what you can implement in your very own green oasis. Because biodiversity starts at home. Visitors can also learn about the benefits of urban gardening, such as better air quality and greater biodiversity. Different types of plants, plant pots and different techniques of urban gardening are waiting to be discovered by you on site.
As colourful as the flowers in your garden
In addition to the interactive stations, various experts from different areas of urban gardening will be on site at the exhibition. They will be on hand to answer your questions and tell you all about topics such as the right soil preparation, irrigation systems, Swiss organic seeds and plants.
